Road resurfacing on Md. 65 slated to begin

A $1.2 million safety and resurfacing improvement project along a 3 1/2-mile section of Md. 65 (Sharpsburg Pike) between Lappans Road and Interstate 70 will begin next week, according to a press release from the Maryland Department of Transportation's State Highway Administration.

The project includes patching, resurfacing, drainage improvements, guardrail upgrades, application of new reflective pavement markings and replacement of traffic signs. The project should be completed by late fall, weather permitting, according to the release.

Sections of the work area might have single-lane closures, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. For information, call the highway administration's District 6 office at 301-729-8400 or toll-free at 1-800-760-7138.
