Consumer advocates

The nonprofit office of consumer advocates provides a number of services for individuals with mental health issues and also for those family members to help understand those issues.

This office also acts as advocates to help with utility cut-offs, and advocate legal matters with the help from attorneys who understand. They also help with many other things, such as, helping those in need looking for housing, finding furniture, providing transportation to mental health appointments, to the office and to various functions.

They also have a food pantry for those on Social Security. This office not only serves those with mental health issues but also those on Social Security, unemployment, disability and more. It also is open to those who may suffer depression and need someone to talk to.

There is a support group the second Wednesday each month from 11 a.m. to noon and a program called Sole Haven on Friday evenings, Saturday mornings and Sunday mornings where you can come and meet as a group to discuss mental health issues. They help those who need to come into a safe, clean and quiet place. The office is at 265 Mill St. and you may contact either MaryBeth or Lynn at 301-790-5054.
