August 01, 2006

Donald McCammon wants to continue helping children, which is why the retired Washington County teacher and school administrator said he decided to file for county Orphans Court judge.

McCammon, 63, of 12930 The Terrace, is a Republican

Over the years, McCammon said he's always listened to his students, "even when they don't think I'm listening. I've really tried to help students, and this is another way to help."

After 36 years as a history teacher and administrator, McCammon retired from Washington County Public Schools in 2001.

He was a history teacher at North Hagerstown High School from 1965 until 1980, worked as a vice principal at four schools and was a history teacher at Clear Spring High School until his retirement.

Originally from Waynesboro, Pa., McCammon has lived in Washington County since 1965. His wife, Jane McCammon, died in 1998. He has one son, Geoffrey.
