Frederick J. Hill - House of Delegates 1C

A former Cumberland city councilman has filed for the Maryland House of Delegates from legislative Sub-District 1C.

Frederick J. Hill, a Democrat, is a retired senior vice president of Beall, Garner, Screen and Geare Insurance and Financial Services in Cumberland. A member of the Allegany County Liquor Board appointed by Gov. Robert Ehrlich, Hill served two terms on the city council and was twice president of the Allegany County Chamber of Commerce, according his resume.

A four-year veteran of the United States Air Force, Hill, 76, also served a term as president of the Allegany County Economic Development Company and as a member of an advisory committee to the state Department of Economic and Community Development. He is a former board chairman for the Maryland Automobile Insurance Fund.

His resume states that he received a presidential citation from former President Jimmy Carter for a leadership role with the National Alliance of Business.

"I am a candidate for the Maryland House of Delegates, District 1C, because I believe I can offer demonstrated leadership," Hill said in a prepared statement.

Hill pledged his "very best efforts to represent to the utmost of my ability and to obtain positive results."

Most of the legislative district lies in Allegany County. It includes Hancock, Clear Spring and surrounding areas in western Washington County.
