Mary E. Boyer, 71

BAKERTON, W.Va. - Mary E. Boyer, 71, of Mardoc Farm, died Thursday, July 27, 2006, at her home.

Born Oct. 25, 1934, in Woodfield, Md., she was the daughter of the late George Thomas Pope and Pearl P. Woodfield Pope.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. Boyer, in 1991.

She was a licensed owner and breeder of thoroughbred racehorses.

She was a member of Bakerton (W.Va.) United Methodist Church.

She was a former member of the Charles Town (W.Va.) Horsemen's Benevolent Protective Association.

She is survived by one son, Darryl L. Boyer of Bakerton; two grandchildren, Aidan Boyer and Kathleen Boyer; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Peggy Gannon; and two brothers, David Pope and Frank Pope.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town. The Rev. Douglas Fraim will officiate. Burial will be in Edge Hill Cemetery, Charles Town.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mary L. Huff, 76

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Mary Louise Huff, 76, of Martinsburg, died Friday, July 28, 2006, at City Hospital.

Born Nov. 17, 1929, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles C. and Daisy N. Robinson Arvin.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Paul V. Huff Sr., in 2001.

She retired from Berkeley County Schools.

She was a member of Blairton (W.Va.) United Methodist Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Traci R. Jones of Martinsburg; three sons, Paul V. Huff Jr. of Dallas, Charles W. Huff of Martinsburg, and Craig L. Huff of Frederick, Md.; one sister, D. Jean Butcher of Martinsburg; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one aunt; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Jack L. Arvin; and one grandson.

Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Martinsburg.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Louise C. Darner, 85


SEPT. 10, 1920-JULY 27, 2006

MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Louise Churchey Darner, 85, of Middletown, died Thursday, July 27, 2006, at Washington (D.C.) Hospital Center.

Born Sept. 10, 1920, in Sharpsburg, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Siebert and Mary Jamison Churchey.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Hilton Darner, in 1993.

She was employed by the Charles Town Race Track from 1971 until her retirement in 1982.

She is survived by two sons, S. Bruce Darner and Mark V. Darner, both of Middletown; one sister, Altamae Crampton of Sharpsburg; two brothers, Joseph E. Churchey Sr. and Clifford Churchey, both of Sharpsburg; and one granddaughter.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, Middletown. The Rev. Tracy L. Wiser will officiate. Burial will be in Frederick (Md.) Memorial Park in Linden Hills.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Bernice A. Mellott, 88

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Bernice A. Mellott, 88, of Fulton County Medical Center Extended Care Unit, and formerly of 408 Knobsville Road, died Friday, July 28, 2006, at Fulton County Medical Center.

Born Feb. 12, 1918, in McConnellsburg, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Suzanne Bard Kelso.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Mellott, in 2003. They were married Oct. 10, 1939.

She was a housewife.

She attended Knobsville Brethren Church in McConnellsburg.

She is survived by three daughters, Sadie Hamman of Harrisburg, Pa., Karen Cowan of Neelyton, Pa., and Darlene Naugle of Shade Gap, Pa.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sisters and six brothers.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, McConnellsburg. Pastor Christian Elliott and Pastor Dan Fox will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, McConnellsburg.

Visitation will be Monday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.




Amos F. Pearrell Sr., 66


JULY 26, 1940-JULY 27, 2006

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Amos Franklin Pearrell Sr., 66, of Martinsburg, died Thursday, July 27, 2006, at Winchester (Va.) Medical Center.

Born July 26, 1940, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Harry N. and Isabell Robinson Pearrell.

He was the maintenance and facility director at East Ridge Health Care.

He attended Independent Bible Church in Martinsburg, where he was the traffic director and secretary of the Cancer Support Group.

He was a member of Berkeley County Police Reserve and No. 5 Westphal Fire Department.
