CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Farm and Safety Day will be held Friday, Aug. 11, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Franklin County Fair Grounds (Chambersburg Rod and Gun Club).
"This is a fun and effective way to teach youth about safety through hands-on demonstrations," said Jere Wingert, an agronomy and livestock educator for the Franklin County Extension office. He is the coordinator for the safety day camp.
The event is open to children, ages 7 to 18.
Wingert said topics will include: bicycle safety; ATV safety; meth labs; car roll-over; a Pennsylvania State Police demonstration; pet and animal safety; highway safety; hidden hazards; water and pool safety; chain saw safety; and the special attraction; the MedEvac Rescue Helicopter.
Admission is $3 per child. The fee covers the cost of lunch, accident insurance and safety materials.
