TOPS Chapter 77 meets on Mondays

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 77 meets every Monday at First Christian Church, 1345 Potomac Ave., Hagerstown. Weigh-in is set for 7:30 a.m., exercise at 8:30 a.m. and the meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. There is a planned program every week and all visitors are welcome to attend. Longmeadow Lions Club installs officers

The 2006-2007 officers of the Longmeadow Lions Club were inducted by region chairman Rodney Timmons at the club's June 22 meeting.

This year's officers are as follows: president - James W. Staley; 1st vice president - Thomas Bowers; 2nd vice president - Carol J. Alphin; secretary - Donald W. Talbert; tail twister - Susan K. Timmons; Lion tamer - Samuel L. Tubaugh; membership chair - T. Reed Hardy.


Directors - one year: Rodney Timmons and Hugo W. Cardenas; two years: William H. Staley and Ronald E. Reeder.

Also, this year's bulletin editor is Susan Timmons and the program director is Carol Alphin. Reed Hardy is responsible for eyeglasses/eye exams/convalescent equipment. The preschool vision screening team is Carol Ann Alphin, Carol Alphin, Reed Hardy, Rod Reed and Sam Tubaugh.

In other Longmeadow Lions Club news, the membership will be holding its summer picnic at the home of Lions Rodney and Susan Timmons on Thursday, July 27. District Gov. John Hopkins will also make his official visit at this meeting.

The Longmeadow Lions will again be working in conjunction with the West Hagerstown Lions Club at the 12th Bulldog/Viking Round Up and Truck Show on Saturday, Sept. 16. The clubs will be serving a pancake breakfast and italian sausage and steak sandwiches.

Brass Express to Perform

Brass Express, a professional brass quintet, will perform a concert on the hill at St. Ann's Church on Saturday, July 29, at 6:30 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public - so bring blankets, chairs and picnics and enjoy this wonderful musical treat! Indoor venue in the event of rain is the St. Ann Parish Center, behind St. Maria Goretti High School and Long Meadow Shopping Center.

Hagerstown Lioness Club

The Hagerstown Lioness Club will hold its annual family indoor picnic on Thursday, Aug. 3, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 601 Washington Ave.

The tropical theme will be "Pirates of the Caribbean." Parking is available across the street on the church parking lot adjacent to Girls Inc., 626 Washington Ave. Please remember that Washington Avenue traffic is one way. Social time begins at 6 p.m., followed by a smorgasbord meal at 6:30 p.m. The picnic is for Hagerstown Lionesses, their family members, and house guests (no other guests). The picnic is considered a regular meeting for the Lionesses.

Any Lioness who did not make a reservation at their July meeting and plans to attend the picnic should call the social chair at 301-582-3334 by Thursday, July 27. Also, all cancellations must be made with the social chair. Details of the picnic will be in the Lionesses' August newsletter.

HHS Class of 1953 to hold picnic reunion

The Hagerstown High School Class of 1953 will hold a picnic reunion on Saturday, Aug. 5, at the Washington County Ag Center from noon to 4 p.m. The cost is $15 per person - friends, family, and classmates of HHS Class of 1953 are cordially invited. Spaghetti dinner to benefit girl

Shiloh United Methodist Church will hold an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner on Saturday, Aug. 5, from noon to 6 p.m. on the church grounds.

This dinner is sponsored by Shiloh UM Church with proceeds benefiting Alivia Koontz and her family. Alivia's ongoing medical problems have been described in several of Bob Maginnis' Herald-Mail articles. Dinner cost is by donation. Shiloh UM Church is on Shiloh Church Road, off Old Forge Road near the Hagers-town YMCA.

NHHS Class of 2001 plans reunion

The NHHS Class of 2001 will hold its five-year reunion on Saturday, Aug. 5, at the Elks Club in Hagerstown from 6 p.m. to midnight. Social hour will be 6 to 7 p.m., followed by a roast beef and chicken dinner buffet from 7 to 8 p.m. Dance music and drinks will be available from 8 p.m. until midnight. The cost is $20 per person or $35 per couple and covers venue, food, DJ and kegs. RSVPs are needed as soon as possible.
