Martinsburg police make third prostitution arrest in 4 days

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A 19-year-old woman was charged with allegedly agreeing to perform sexual acts on a police informant Monday afternoon, Berkeley County Magistrate Court records show. Cortney Blaire Saylor, 151 Tower View Drive, Martinsburg, is the third person since Friday to be charged by Martinsburg Police Department officers with solicitation of prostitution.

Saylor also was charged with possession of heroin. She was jailed on a $5,000 bond set by Magistrate JoAnn Overington, record show

Her arrest about 1:50 p.m. in a parking lot in the 500 block of South Raleigh Street, was similar to two others announced Friday by Detective Sgt. G.B. Swartwood.

Saylor was found by the informant in the 300 block of West Race Street, where she got into his vehicle and then began talking with him about sexual acts for money, records show.

According to court records, after negotiating a deal for $80 using recorded currency, the informant told police they traveled to a parking lot near the future Berkeley County Judicial Center. There, Swartwood and another officer made the arrest, records show.

On Friday, a 51-year-old Martinsburg area woman was jailed on the same misdemeanor charges as Saylor after an informant met her in the 200 block of South Maple Avenue, also downtown, police said.

About three hours before the woman's arrest Friday, a 30-year-old man was detained at the South Raleigh Street parking lot after he agreed to perform sexual acts on a male police informant, records show.

The informant met the accused at the Caperton Train Station parking lot off East Martin and Race streets sometime before 1 p.m., records allege. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance (crack cocaine) and fraudulent use of a credit card, an offense not related to the alleged sex crime, records show.
