Hunter's favorite

Venison is rich and flavorful, and very low in fat. Venison can be found in fine restaurants at incredible prices and in posh gourmet butcher shops.

Sometimes, it's in the nearest woods for the cost of a hunting license and, once in a while, you might even find a bit of venison nibbling in your rose garden.

Wherever you find it, cook it well and enjoy it. Try this hunter's favorite recipe for venison stew.

Venison Stew

1 (3 lb.) Venison roast

Cooking oil

2 tablespoons each soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce

1/2 teaspoon dry mustard

1/4 cup catsup

1/4 cup wine vinegar

1 teaspoon rosemary

Season roast with salt to taste. Brown in hot oil in skillet. Place browned meat in slow cooker. Combine remaining ingredients; pour over meat. Cover and cook on slow for 8-10 hours. Slice or pull meat to serve over rice. Enjoy with a garden salad and buttered bread.
