You Said It

"Drive through the campuses of Boonsboro Middle and High schools to see the lack of pride the employees take in mowing the areas surrounding these schools. No trimming is done, and small areas (islands) have not been mowed this year. The few flower beds and shrubs that are there need to be weeded and mulched. Hopefully, some of the millions just appropriated to WCPS for maintenance can find its way to Boonsboro."

"I have a problem with our taxpayers of the U.S. having to put their money out to evacuate these people out of Lebanon. Twenty-two years ago, Americans were told not to go into the area in the first place, so why do we have 25,000 Americans in Lebanon that we have to evacuate? I know the U.S. Embassy and people like that are put there by our government, but the other 20,000, they are not embassy workers, so why do we have to pay to evacuate them? They should pay for their own way out. I'm sorry, but the minority leader needs to change her mind or have someone talk to her."

"I just happened to be looking at the newspaper of Tuesday, July 18, and in Mail Call a person says that he picks up men at the county work release center daily, and that these people are hardworking Christian men. He also says that it's 90 degrees in their sleeping area. If he is that interested in fans for their sleeping area, he should go buy a fan or two and donate it to the work-release area. Also, if they are living in those conditions, when they finally do get out of the work-release program and leave the jail, they will remember that and not go back to jail, right?"

"I'd like to know what the rules and regulations are about leaving dogs on a leash out in 105-degree heat. On Falling Waters Road on Tuesday, a long-haired dog was chained outside a doghouse that looked like an igloo - no water, no nothing, 105 degrees. I think that's a terrible thing. I think the county ought to do something about these people. They ought to be able to put their dogs in the house, or at least put them under a shade tree. I wouldn't want to sit out in the heat for 15 hours a day in 105 degrees. Thank you."

"Why is it that we have two TV stations that cover the Baltimore Orioles, one TV station that broadcasts the Atlanta Braves games, and once in a blue moon, we get a TV broadcast of the Washington Nationals games? Keep in mind we receive many TV channels on cable from the Washington area, as well as the Baltimore area. So there has to be a way to get Washington Nationals games on TV. The Orioles are broadcast on two different channels at the same time. Tell me this makes sense for programming and for advertisers. Tell me, more importantly, it makes sense for baseball fans. It doesn't."

"Beware, pet owners. There are three ladies in separate cars, riding around looking for anyone who is not sheltering their animals from the heat or not providing water for them, especially outdoor pets. Pet owners, get on the ball, or you'll get a visit from the SPCA. These ladies are riding in all different areas. Personally, I think they're doing a great job."

"I'm calling about the person that called in about the police starting to give out tickets to all the people walking their dogs without leashes. If they'd do that, plus go ahead and ticket all the people that park in the No Parking, Fire Lane zones at the malls and whatnot, and the people that run the stop signs at the Wal-Mart and do all that, then we would more than have enough money for the taxes, and we wouldn't have to raise everybody's taxes for the property. We'd also have enough money in order to be able to afford extra police department, fire department and Social Services for the kids, in order to keep teen pregnancy down."

"I agree with the person who said that President Bush is one of the best presidents we've had in a very long time. I am a registered Democrat who will never vote that way again. I am very ashamed of the way they block everything that President Bush tries to do for this country. He is trying very hard to keep us and this country safe."

"I see where a lot of Americans that are in Lebanon are whining and crying because they can't get out. I figure if they went over there on their free will, then that's their problem. They can find their own way out. They're over there because of their own self-interest to be there. Lebanon is responsible for the Hezbollah. They should get them out of there, and then these so-called American citizens that are complaining won't have anything to complain about."
