Suns sweep Legends behind Martinez

July 23, 2006

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Fernando Martinez drove in Armand Gaerlan with the game-winning run in the 10th inning of the first game, and his three-run double in the seventh inning of the second game gave the Hagerstown Suns a doubleheader sweep of the Lexington Legends on Saturday, 2-1 and 3-2.

Trailing 1-0 in the opener, which started Friday but was suspended in the first inning, the Suns tied it in the sixth when Jonel Pacheco drove in Martinez. Hagerstown turned five double plays.

In the seven-inning nightcap, Will Vogl and Leivi Ventura singled and Jesus Gamero reached on an error to load the bases. Rafael Arroyo grounded into a fielder's choice with Vogl out at home, but Martinez came through moments later.
