A Washington County Circuit Court jury on Wednesday found a 23-year-old Hagerstown man guilty of a New Year's Eve sexual assault of an 18-year-old girl, according to court records.

Charelles Lamar Jones-Harris, whose last known address was 843 W. Washington St., was found guilty of second-degree assault, false imprisonment, sodomy and two counts each of second- and fourth-degree sex offense, according to records.

According to charging documents, Jones-Harris was walking the girl home from a party Dec. 31 about 4 a.m. when Jones-Harris punched her in the face, grabbed her cell phone and dragged her into a garage/storage shed in an alley off the 100 block of West North Avenue, according to records.

Jones-Harris sodomized the girl and forced her to perform oral sex, according to records.

Circuit Judge John H. McDowell ordered a presentence investigation be prepared for sentencing.

Jones-Harris was being held at the Washington County Detention Center without bond Friday, a jail spokeswoman said.
