Suns down Legends

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Three Hagerstown relievers held Lexington hitless and scoreless over the final 4 2/3 innings and the Suns held off the Legends 8-3 Thursday night.

With the Suns leading 5-3, Brandon Nall took over for starter Jeramy Simmons and went 2 2/3 innings for the victory. Nall (2-4) struck out four and walked one. Relievers German Marte and Jim Wladyka each pitched an inning to close out the game.

Jose Castro had three of Hagerstown's 12 hits and Hector Pellot went 2-for-5 with a home run and a double. His solo shot in the fifth gave the Suns a 5-1 lead.

Tied 1-1, Hagerstown rallied for three runs in the fourth to take the lead for good. Pellot led off with a double, Drew Butera walked and Rafael Arroyo reached on a bunt single to load the bases with no outs.

After Will Vogl hit into a fielder's choice out at home, Butera scored from third on Fernando Martinez's fielder's choice out at second to make it 2-1. Arroyo then stole home and Jonel Pacheco hit an RBI double.

The Suns added two insurance runs in the sixth and one more in the eighth.
