BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Tari's Caf and Gallery has a new owner as of July 1.

Amy McBee, manager of Tari's, purchased the restaurant from Tari Hampe-Deneen, its founder and namesake of 17 years, according to a joint news release.

McBee has been a Tari's employee since the caf opened in 1989.

According to the release, Hampe-Deneen decided to sell the business to McBee last summer, and Hampe-Deneen will continue to stay on and manage the business.

"It is more of a role reversal than the sale of a business," Hampe-Deneen said in the press release. "I will become the manager and Amy will be the owner. We work very well together. It will be an honor to be her employee. I will have the best of both worlds. Great people to work with, a job, nice customers and more time at home with (her husband) Lovey," she said.

McBee and Hampe-Deneen assure their customers that "Tari's Caf and Gallery will continue to be one of the most satisfying dining experiences in the four-state region," the release states.

"Tari could have sold the restaurant a hundred times and been out of it," McBee said in the release. "Instead, she's providing me and my family with this great opportunity."
