July 18, 2006

EASTLAKE, Ohio - The Hagerstown Suns went right to work erasing their nine-game losing streak Monday, scoring three runs in the first inning and giving starter Bobby Parnell all the support he needed to earn a 5-2 victory.

Singles by Will Vogl and Jose Castro leading off the game got everything going. Nick Evans hit an RBI single, Leivi Ventura singled to load the bases, Drew Butera drove in Castro with a sacrifice fly and Matt Anderson's RBI double scored Ventura.

In the second, Vogl doubled, went to third on Castro's single and scored on Jonel Pacheco's squeeze bunt to make it 4-0. The Suns scored their final run in the ninth, when Vogl walked, Castro doubled to move Vogl to third and Pacheco hit a sac fly.

Parnell (4-6) worked five innings, allowing four hits, three walks and one unearned run. He struck out seven.
