Bridge on Pa. 997 to close due to replacement project

July 16, 2006

QUINCY, Pa. - The bridge that carries Pa. 997 over a tributary of Little Antietam Creek in Quincy Township will be closed to traffic starting Monday while the bridge is replaced, according to a press release from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT).

The bridge is between Quincy and Mont Alto. A detour will direct traffic around the closure by way of Manheim Road, Pa. 316 and Orphanage Road.

PennDOT has contracted with CH & D Enterprises Inc. of New Stanton, Pa., to replace the existing concrete slab bridge with a precast concrete box culvert at a cost of $225,915.

The project is scheduled to be completed by late August, according to the release.

About 10,500 vehicles travel over the bridge on a daily basis, according to the release.
