Study abroad opportunity



SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - The Shepherd University Department of English and Modern Languages will offer a British Literature and Prominence of Place travel abroad study tour Thursday, March 15, through Monday, March 26, 2007. Participants will travel through Switzerland and Italy to the places that inspired Voltaire, Rousseau, George Sand, the Brownings and Arthur Conan Doyle.

The cost for the tour ranges from $2,099 to $2,399 depending on the number of travelers. Round-trip airfare, land travel, hotels, breakfast and dinner excursions and cultural admissions including Lake Geneva Boat Cruise, Chillon Castle, Uffize Gallery, Picolomini Library, Colosseum, Forum, Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel, and Keats-Shelley Museum are included in the price of the trip. A $500 deposit must be received by Friday, Sept. 1.




Bus trip to Orioles game



SHENANDOAH JUNCTION, W.Va. - Jefferson County Parks and Recreation Commission is sponsoring a trip to see the Orioles play the White Sox, Friday, July 28. The bus will depart at 4 p.m. and return at approximately 11:30 p.m. from Sam Michaels Park, Little League parking lot.

It's floppy hat night at the ballpark so all participants ages 18 and older will take home a free O's hat. Bring money for hot dogs, popcorn and peanuts. The cost is $45 per person for all ages. A paying adult must accompany children younger than 18 years old. The cost includes ticket and transportation.
