CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Borough police charged two men with several thefts from vehicles after receiving a call Thursday afternoon about a suspicious vehicle.

Police said the call about a white Lincoln with a gray door in the 400 block of Stanley Avenue came in at 3:24 p.m. When police tried to stop the vehicle, there was a short chase in which other motorists had to avoid the Lincoln before it was pulled over in the 100 block of South Third Street.

Grant A. Miller, 18, of 5400 Lincoln Way East, Fayetteville, Pa., and Dane M. Cook, 27, of 14 Forrest Ave., Chambersburg, were charged with four counts each of theft from vehicles and criminal conspiracy, police said. Miller, who was driving the car, also was charged with fleeing and eluding police and recklessly endangering another person, police said.

The affidavits of probable cause stated that Miller and Cook stole car stereo equipment from a vehicle on Sheller Avenue and from another vehicle parked on South Main Street on Monday.

On Wednesday morning, the pair allegedly stole a tool box from a truck in the 700 block of South Church Street in Waynesboro, Pa. Police said the victim in that case sustained a possible broken toe when he tackled Cook, who still managed to get away.

Prior to being taken into custody Thursday, police said Miller and Cook broke into a vehicle parked at TB Woods on North Fifth Street and stole a car stereo and 60 compact discs.
