Greencastle native turns 100

July 14, 2006

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - On June 15, Greencastle, Pa., native Evelyn Sellers celebrated her 100th birthday at an open house in her honor in the Menno Village Colonial Dining Room.

Sellers, a homemaker throughout her married life, was devoted to her family and practically raised her two nieces after finding out that she was unable to have children. Later in life, the ever-patient Sellers took care of her mother.

Sellers was married to Crawford Sellers for more than 50 years. During that time, they traveled to South America and the New England states. She made her own clothes, enjoyed knitting afghans, had a garden and canned her own fruits and vegetables. She is a member of the Greencastle Methodist Church Auxiliary, Eastern Star, Menno Haven Auxiliary, and AARP.

Today, she enjoys chapel services at Menno Village and special programs that include children or music.
