SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Grandmothers will inspire dancers at the Goose Route Dance Festival, a days-long ode to contemporary dance.
The sixth annual Goose Route Dance Festival will take place the weekends of July 14, 15 and 16 and July 21, 22 and 23 in Shepherdstown. The festival features lectures, workshops and performances from eight dance companies.
New this year is the "Grandmother Project," choreography based on how people remember their grandmothers. Earlier this month in Shepherdstown, Vincent Thomas, artistic director of the Baltimore-based VTDance company, hosted two community forums about grandmothers. Thomas' performance Sunday will be derived from the talks, organizers said.
