Donations for group's planned bus trip sought

July 12, 2006

Unless contributions increase, a planned bus trip sponsored by For Our Kids' Sake to a Pennsylvania amusement park might not be able to take as many children as have signed up, organizers said.

The day trip to Kennywood Park in West Mifflin, Pa., will be Saturday, Aug. 5, according to organizers Clara Broadus and Dottie Bell.

Community support will be key in making the trip a reality for children who otherwise will not be able to go, Broadus said.

This year, Atlantic Coast Trailways is charging $1,715 per bus, and the group hopes to take three buses. The tickets cost $50 per person, which includes a ticket to the park, breakfast, lunch and round-trip bus fare.

Last summer, enough money was raised to send 140 children and chaperones to Six Flags in New Jersey. Clubs, organizations and businesses are being asked to contribute to the annual effort.

Sponsors also are being sought for children and families.

Deposits may be made at any Hagerstown Trust branch under the account name For Our Kids' Sake, No. 141518.
