The following area students received degrees from Bucknell University, Lewisburg, Pa., during commencement ceremonies May 21:

Brandon M. Scuffins of Hagerstown graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in physics. The son of Galen and Cathy Scuffins is a 2002 graduate of Williamsport High School

David G. Allen of Emmitsburg, Md., graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. The son of Jay and Susan Allen is a graduate of Catoctin High School.

Kevin E. Kroepil of Chambersburg, Pa., graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in accounting. The son of Joseph and Kathy Kroepil is a 2002 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School.

Christopher Gyurisin of Smithsburg, a student in the College of Natural Resources at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, Va., recently received the A.E. Evans Scholarship.




Maureen Dameron of Chambersburg, Pa. has been chosen to receive the Barbara M. Dilworth Memorial Scholarship from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania for the first and second semester of the 2006-2007 academic year.

Funds for the scholarships are raised through the BU Foundation. Students receive the scholarships based on academics, athletics and campus involvement.




The following area students graduated from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania in May:

Michelle Schultheiss, Chambersburg, Pa., Bachelor of Arts, criminal justice; Courtney Heckman, Fayetteville, Pa., Bachelor of Science, speech pathology and audiology; Erika Besecker, Waynesboro, Pa., Bachelor of Science, business administration.




At the 128th commencement ceremonies at Frostburg State University, Frostburg, Md., on Saturday, May 27, nearly 110 area residents were among the 645 total candidates for degrees.

Candidates listed include those who completed requirements in May, as well as those who finished in January.

Ninety students from the Tri-State area have been named to the dean's list at Frostburg State University for outstanding academic achievement for the spring 2006 semester.

To be eligible, a student must undertake a minimum of 12 credit hours and earn a cumulative semester grade point average of at least 3.4 on a 4.0 scale.
