Submitting announcements

Engagement, anniversary, birth and wedding announcements are printed free of charge in The Herald-Mail on Saturdays, if submitted within six months of the event.

Announcements must be legible. Engagement announcements require signatures from both fiancs (and parents who formally make the announcement). Birth announcements require a signature from one parent (from both parents if last names are different).

We publish photos for weddings and engagements. Please send a sharp, clear photo, 3 by 5 inches or larger. Computer-printed images on photo paper are OK. We also accept high-resolution JPEG or TIF photo files via e-mail. Signatures may also be e-mailed as an attachment.

Also, longer, customized wedding announcements are offered for a fee. For a paid announcement form, call Lifestyle Editor Jake Womer at 301-733-5131, ext. 2340.
