Elina Mir, 12, will be a seventh-grader at St. Mary School. She enjoys reading and writing books.

Alexandra Cantone, 11, will attend the Montessori Academy in Chambersburg, Pa., in the fall.

Sarah Johnston, 16, will be a senior this fall at North Hagerstown High School. She visited nine Maryland colleges and universities during her junior year of high school.

Hannah Tussing, 13, is a homeschooler living in Hagerstown. She read 162 books this past school year and still found time to ride horses, act in plays and play video games.

Nick Mohar-Schurz, 16, will be a senior at Saint James School this fall. He hopes to incorporate his interest in other peoples and cultures into a writing career.

Matt Newton, 17, is a Visual Communications student at Washington County Technical High School. He's an avid Transformers fan.

Kyle Lefler, 15, is enjoying her summer and can't wait to be an upperclassman at Boonsboro High School this fall.
