Fashion world exposed

REVIEW

The recently released movie "The Devil Wears Prada" starring Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep, showcases two actresses at their best ... and a lot of couture fashion at its best.

Streep is in her element, playing Miranda Priestly, the bossy, self-centered editor of the fictional Runway magazine. Hathaway plays Andy, who comes along looking for work and ends up being hired as Miranda's personal assistant.

When the movie begins, Andy has little sense of style and falls as easy prey to Miranda. She is bossed around, yelled at, and worked until she is ready to give up.

Then one day she is transformed into a fashionista, and begins to be very good at her job, much to Miranda's satisfaction, although she would never let it show. However, the new Andy is totally compromising her morals and begins to lose all her friends and her boyfriend.

The plot of this movie is sort of predictable, but the acting is tremendous. The two main characters really embrace their roles and bring the characters to life. I enjoyed the camaraderie within the whole cast as well. They exposed what the high fashion world is really like - fierce and competitive, not the picture-perfect life we read about. The end result is a great film that anyone will enjoy who is old enough to understand what fashion is.
