WAYNESBORO, Pa. - The Firecracker 5K run, in its ninth year, is scheduled to leave the field across from Waynesboro Hospital at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 4.

The race includes $950 in cash prizes with up to $150 going to divisional winners. Gift certificates also will be given away.

"We close Main Street down to Fairview Avenue," said Dr. Joseph Stewart of the Summer Jubilee committee. Participants are assisted by 40 volunteer marshals, he said.

Registration begins at 7:15 that morning.
