Man charged with abusing girl, 5
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - A Jefferson County, W.Va., man was arraigned Friday on a charge of sexually abusing a 5-year-old girl who was visiting her father at a neighboring residence, according to magistrate court records.
Thomas E. King, 51, of P.O. Box 21 in Kearneysville, W.Va., was charged with first-degree sexual abuse by State Police Trooper D.R. Smith, according to court records.
The encounter between King and the child allegedly happened June 16 at the residence of the accused off Old Creamery Place near W.Va. 480. It wasn't clear how the child managed to get to King's home, but she confirmed in an interview with authorities that the accused kissed her and touched her inappropriately, according to court records.
King admitted to kissing her and touching her on the buttocks, according to Smith's complaint. A hospital nurse's examination revealed the child was bruised on her buttocks and vaginal area, according to the complaint.
