B>Honors for Kasandra

Way to go! Kasandra Harne of Halfway, and great granddaughter of Catherine and Wayne Trumpower achieved top honors this past year as a student at Lincolnshire Elementary. Kasandra, a third-grader in Mrs. Shaw's class, achieved distinguished honor roll this past marking period and maintained the honor roll previously. What an accomplishment Kasandra, keep up the good work!

Bingo to help repair pumper

The Volunteer Fire Company of Halfway will be hosting a Pumper Healing Bonanza (to go to repair costs of $40,000 due to the unexpected failure of the engine in their primary pumper) on Sunday, July 9. Doors will open at 10 a.m. with games set to begin at 2 p.m. Dinner will be served at noon. A $5,000 guaranteed payout will be awarded.

Fifty games will be offered, $100 per game. Tickets are $50, which includes dinner and 12 cards. Extra games will be sold. Reserved seats will be offered for this game. For reservations and or questions, call 301-582-2888.


Fireworks planned

Head out to Hagerstown Fairgrounds Park for a spectacular fireworks display. Be sure to mark your calendars, and head out with the family for a fun night of food, fireworks and celebration on Tuesday, July 4. Fireworks will begin at dusk and this event is free and open to the public.

Have a safe, fun and sparkling Independence Day, on Tuesday. Enjoy your day at family barbecues, picnics or fun at the pool! Have a happy Fourth of July!
