Peter D. Shaw, 53

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Peter D. Shaw, 53, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, June 21, 2006, at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C.

Born July 31, 1952, in Hampton, Va., he was the son of Donald Alexander Shaw and Betty L. Elliott Shaw of Peabody, Mass.

He was a steel detailer and co-owner of Mountain Enterprises in Sharpsburg.

He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.

He also was a member of Martinsburg Planning Commission.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Deborah Yeater Shaw; one daughter, Erin R. Shaw of Morgantown, W.Va.; one son, Frank R. Shaw of Martinsburg; one sister, Elizabeth C. Shaw of Boston; three brothers, John G. Shaw and Alexander E. Shaw, both of Shepherdstown, W.Va., and Geoffrey L. Shaw of Hawaii; nieces; and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church in Martinsburg. The Rev. Julie Harris will officiate.

Goldie M. Baker, 89


SEPT. 1, 1916-JUNE 26, 2006

CASCADE - Goldie M. "Sis" Baker, 89, of Raven Rock Road, died Monday, June 26, 2006, at her home.

Born Sept. 1, 1916, in Lantz, Md., she was the daughter of the late Henry R. and Janetta M. Kendall Smith.

Her husband of 64 years, Edwin T. Baker, died in 2001.

She was a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Lantz.

She is survived by one daughter, Jackie M. Troxell of Thurmont, Md.; one son, Floyd E. Baker of Greencastle, Pa.; three sisters, Martha Willard and Mildred Eyler, both of Sabillasville, Md., and Josephine Eyler of Thurmont; two brothers, C. Jim Smith and Benny Smith, both of Sabillasville; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Sally Mayhue; and five brothers, Harry Smith, Bill Smith, Jake Smith, Henry Smith and Harvey Smith.

Graveside services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Bethel Cemetery in Cascade. The Rev. Bill Warehime will officiate.

The family will receive friends at J.L. Davis Funeral Home in Smithsburg today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Arthur R. Schmid, 79

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Arthur Russell Schmid, 79, of 66 Hillside Drive, died Monday, June 26, 2006, at his home.

Born April 27, 1927, in Westfield, N.J., he was the son of the late Adolf and Gertrude Boyd Schmid.

He retired in 1985 from Letterkenny Army Depot.

He was a U.S. Navy Seabees veteran of World War II.

He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose 842 and Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, both of Chambersburg.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanore, whom he married Nov. 11, 1950; three daughters, Joanne Hershey of Fayetteville, Pa., Barbara A. Schmid of Lancaster, Pa., and Dorothy A. Hudson of Chambersburg; two sons, Albert J. Schmid of Chambersburg and Russell W. Schmid of Mount Holly Springs; two sisters, Marilyn Pletcher and Gail Heiser, both of Florida; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Nylese and Anna Albano; and two brothers, Joseph Schmid and Albert Schmid.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Chambersburg. The Rev. James R. O'Brien will officiate. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery, Chambersburg, where military graveside honors will be conducted by the Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW.

Friends may call Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg.

James E. Needy, 64


JUNE 11, 1942-JUNE 23, 2006

ZULLINGER, Pa. - James Earl Needy, 64, of Polk Town Road, and formerly of South Church Street, Waynesboro, Pa., died Friday, June 23, 2006, at Waynesboro Hospital.

Born June 11, 1942, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Crawford E. and Mary E. Fishack Needy.

He was a 1960 graduate of Waynesboro High School, and a graduate of Hagerstown Business College.

He was employed by Allegheny Glass Co. in Hagerstown.

He was a member of the National Guard.

He is survived by aunts, uncles and cousins.

Graveside services will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro. The Rev. Barbara B. Steigerwalt will officiate.
