Shorebirds edge Suns

SALISBURY, Md. - Hagerstown locked up with Delmarva in a pitchers' duel and the Suns came out on the short end of a 2-1 decision against the Shorebirds on Monday night.

Tied 1-1 in the eighth with Kevin Tomasiewicz (5-2) on in relief for the Suns, Delmarva pushed across a run on a single by Lorenzo Scott, a sacrifice bunt, passed ball and single by Ryan Finan.

The Suns (29-45, 1-3 second half) took a 1-0 lead in the third inning. Matt Anderson walked, went to second on an infield out and scored when Jose Castro singled to center.

Delmarva scored an unearned run in the fifth inning off Suns starter Deolis Guerra, who went five innings without allowing a hit.

Hagerstown threatened with two baserunners in the ninth inning with one out but could not produce a run.
