Reunion

June 26, 2006

The Hagerstown High School Class of 1934 held its 72nd anniversary reunion June 3 with a luncheon at Fountain Head Country Club.

Following a period of socializing, D. Earl Wolf Jr. made the introduction and Mary Ward Secor gave the invocation. After lunch and opening remarks by Wolf, the group sang "Smiles" and the class members who attended gave brief remarks. Jane Rohrer Norman gave the benediction, and the reunion ended with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne."

The Class of 1934 had 304 graduates; about 70 - most of whom are now 90 years "young" - are living, according to Wolf. Several members who had planned to attend this year's reunion were unable due to recent health problems, he said.

Members of the reunion committee were Mary Ella Hook Crossley, Robert S. Martin, Doris Sager, Mary Ward Secor, Jeanne McCauley Vollmer, Harry Vollmer, Anna C. Krotzer Wine and D. Earl Wolf Jr.

The reunion was dedicated to the memory of faithful members of the reunion committee since the class's first reunion in 1954: Doris Eldridge Keener, Paul Fitez, Mary C. Miller Dysert, Tom Sager, Norma L. "Bunny" Morin Foltz, Charlotte Martin and Gladys Wolf. Classmates also honored class secretary Sarah Trammell, whose health problems prevented her from attending.
