Md. offers grants to artists



BALTIMORE - The Maryland State Arts Council has announced that applications for the 2007 Individual Artist Awards program are available.

Under a new application process, all artists will have the opportunity to submit applications electronically. Visual artists may submit digital images instead of slides. Go to eGrant at maaf.egrant.org.

Applicants can also print out a copy of the application and guidelines at the Maryland State Arts Council Web site at www.msac.org, and mail it.

All applications must be submitted successfully through the eGrant process no later than 11:59 p.m. Thursday, July 27, or postmarked by July 27.

Local painting in annual show



A painting by local artist Dennis Clarke has been juried into the 65th annual National Exhibition, sponsored by the Watercolor Society of Alabama.

Clarke's painting "Across the Inlet" was selected from 250 entries submitted nationwide, and will be among only 71 watercolors at the annual exhibition, to be held at Birmingham Southern College through Tuesday, June 27.




Artists invited to submit art



Washington County Arts Council announces its first Washington County Free-for-All, an exhibition open to artists who live or work in Washington County, as well as to members of the WCAC.

Submissions will be accepted at the gallery on Saturday, Sept. 2, and Tuesday, Sept. 5. First come, first accepted until the gallery is full. All media will be accepted.The Free-for-All exhibition will run from Saturday, Sept. 9, to Sunday, Oct. 8.
