Man charged in undercover operation

A Clear Spring man was being held Saturday at the Washington County Detention Center on several drug-related charges following an undercover operation Friday by the Hagerstown Police Department's Street Crimes Unit, according to a police department press release.

Charles Warren Clark III, 18, of 14117 Fairview Road, was charged with distribution of crack cocaine, possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, possession of crack cocaine and possession of controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia. He was being held on $175,000 bond.

During an undercover operation targeting drug dealing in Hagerstown's South End, an informant made contact with Clark in the 400 block of South Potomac Street, according to the release. Clark allegedly sold the informant $60 worth of crack cocaine, according to the release. As detectives moved in to make an arrest, police allege Clark discarded a bag containing three more pieces of crack cocaine. He was taken into custody without incident, according to the release.

Police said Clark already was wanted on an outstanding warrant for three counts of first-degree assault, three counts of second-degree assault and possession of a handgun, according to the release.
