Sports Hall of Fame
The following Smithsburg High School seniors will receive awards at the Washington County Sports Hall of Fame banquet on July 15:
Aaron Steiner $1,000 Golf Scholarship, Brandon Shaeffer.
Franklin (Wimp) Hamburg $1,000 Scholarship, Teonna Jewell.
Charles Wisz $1,000 Hall of Fame Scholarship, Kenzie Bowen.
Sarah (Skip) Ward Outstanding Athlete of Year Award, Shannon Fowkes.
Steve Shifflett and Dirk Schultz will be inducted into the Washington County Sports Hall of Fame at the July 15 banquet at the Elks Lodge on Robinwood Drive, Hagerstown. Cascade Elementary
The Bookmobile will visit the school on Wednesday, June 28, from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m and will be at the former Fort Ritchie from 10:30 to 11 a.m.
Old Forge Elementary
Students who exhibited the six pillars of character - responsibility, trustworthiness, citizenship, caring, fairness, and respect - received a certificate, had their picture taken for the Character Counts! bulletin board, and were allowed to do some special activities.

Smithsburg Elementary
Kindergarten update - Subject to Board of Education budget approval, the school is planning to have three full-day kindergarten classes next fall. Parents will be notified as soon as it is official.
The next Pre-K and kindergarten registration will be on Wednesday, July 12. Remember to bring immnunization records, your child's birth certificate, Social Security card, and proof of residence.

Congratulations to Anna Baldasarre, state level winner, for her short story "Thanksgiving in Ohio" and Samantha Burnette, honorable mention, for her poem, "Night Gallop."
