The Owenses

Ed and Irene Owens of Funkstown celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary July 22, 2005, at a surprise dinner at South Mountain Inn hosted by their children and spouses, Ed and Bonnie Owens and Tim and Carolyn Owens, all of Hagerstown. Several close family members and friends attended the event.

The Owenses were married July 27, 1955, at Christ Lutheran Chapel in Hagers-town by the Rev. Summers.

Mrs. Owens is a homemaker. Mr. Owens retired from Allegheny Power after 44 years of service. He was a real estate representative.

They have two grandchildren.

The Poors

Bob and Jackie Poor of Hagerstown celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary at a surprise event at their home Sunday, March 19, 2006, with family and friends. The celebration was hosted by their children and spouses, Jean and Christian Gouel of Gaithersburg, Md., Jan and Jim Mechlinski of Baltimore, and Jim and Brenda DeYoung of Greencastle, Pa.


The Poors were married March 29, 1981, at the West Chelmsford United Methodist Church in Chelmsford, Mass. Following the party, they took a two-week tour cruising down the Rhone River in France.

Mrs. Poor is a homemaker. Mr. Poor is a practicing certified senior advisor with R.A. Poor Associates of Hagerstown.

They are active at First Christian Church in Hagers-town.

Together, they have six grandchildren.
