VERNONA, N.Y. - A late double bogey was the deciding factor for Dirk Schultz on Friday that precluded him from making the cut in the 39th PGA Professional National Championship.

Starting his round on No. 1 at the Atunyote Golf Club, the Beaver Creek Country Club professional had a double bogey on the 444-yard par-4 sixth hole, but a birdie on No. 8 put his front nine card at even-par 36.

He went to 1-under with a birdie on No. 10, but Schultz recorded a double bogey on No. 17, a 467-yard par-4 that sent him to a 1-over 37 on the back nine. His second-round 73 followed Thursday's 72 at Shenendoah Golf Club and the 145 total missed the cut line, which fell at even-par 144 for the top 70 scores and ties.
