Man being held on assault charges

A Calvert County, Md., man who allegedly pointed a gun at another man and pulled the hammer was being held Thursday night at the Washington County Detention Center, according to a detention center spokesman.

Delonta D. Dandridge, 19, of Sunderland, Md., is charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault and reckless endangerment, according to a criminal complaint.

Dandridge allegedly pointed a silver revolver at a man who had approached him to talk to two women as he and the women were walking on Franklin Street near Burhans Boulevard on Saturday about 10:45 p.m., according to the complaint.

The women are nieces of the victim, and either Dandridge or a man accompanying Dandridge told the victim to mind his own business when he approached the group, according to the complaint.

The victim ran back to his car when Dandridge allegedly pulled the hammer on the gun, according to the complaint.

Bail was set at $75,000 for Dandridge, according to court documents.
