Man pleads guilty to malicious destruction of property

All but one charge against a man accused of breaking into a Hancock home in May were dismissed, according to Washington County District Court documents.

Josh Joseph Davie, 20, of Tampa, Fla., pleaded guilty to malicious destruction of property, with four other counts of burglary dismissed, according to court documents.

Davie was sentenced to 60 days in jail, with 30 days suspended.

Washington County Sheriff's Department deputies stopped Davie as he was walking north on Orchard Ridge Road after an incident at one of the houses on the street, according to court documents. A man in the 10000 block of Orchard Ridge Road had reported finding a man sleeping on his couch on May 22 about 7 a.m., and the man had run out, according to court documents.

Davie told police he had permission from someone who lived at the house to be there, according to court documents.
