WILLIAMSPORT - Rust-Oleum Corp., which makes rust preventive paints and coatings, is leasing more warehouse space near Williamsport.

Rust-Oleum has signed a lease with BPG Properties Ltd. for 100,000 square feet at Interstate Industrial Park, according to a Hagerstown-Washington County Economic Development Commission press release last week.

BPG Properties, the real estate investment manager for Berwind Property Group, acquired the building in January 2005, according to the release.

The building has almost 168,000 square feet, according to state property records.

Rust-Oleum has a manufacturing plant and a distribution center at Interstate Industrial Park on Industrial Lane, just outside of Williamsport.

Distribution Manager Doug Peters said in a phone interview on Monday that Rust-Oleum acquired its current distribution center at 16634 Industrial Lane nine years ago.

State property records indicate that the building at 16634 Industrial Lane has 84,000 square feet.

Rust-Oleum opened its manufacturing plant about 30 years ago, Peters said.

He said the company has 202 employees at Interstate Industrial Park.

The press release says the additional 100,000 square feet of warehouse space "offers Rust-Oleum future expansion capabilities, high, clear ceiling heights and ample trailer storage."
