Bester Elementary posted double-digit gains on tests

June 21, 2006

Bester and Eastern elementary schools, where teachers had to reapply for their jobs and commit to longer working hours, were among the schools singled out for praise when Washington County Public Schools officials met to discuss state scores.

According to scores released Tuesday, Bester posted double-digit gains on both the math and reading portions of the third-grade and fourth-grade Maryland School Assessments administered this spring.

The Herald-Mail will continue to follow Bester's first year of restructuring with a complete wrap-up of the results Sunday.
