Suns swamp Shorebirds

June 18, 2006

Nick Evans went 4-for-4 with four RBI to pace the Hagerstown Suns in one of their best outputs of the year on Saturday in an 11-3 victory over Delmarva.

Evans doubles and hit his 11th home run in the fifth inning as the Suns collected 17 hits off a foursome of Shorebirds pitchers.

The 11 runs were the most scored by the Suns this season. Hagerstown scored 10 runs against Lake County on May 3 for its previous high.

The Suns roughed up Brandon Erbe (5-3), one of the Baltimore Orioles' top pitching prospects, collecting five runs on eight hits in 3 2/3 innings.

The Suns scored in every inning but the first and eighth before a crowd of 5,970.

Jose Castro had three hits, while Hector Pellot, Jonathan Sanchez, Leivi Ventura and Jonel Pacheco added two hits each.

Evans drove in a run in the third with a sacrifice fly before homering in the fifth. He added an RBI single in the sixth and run-scoring double in the four-run seventh.
