Salvation Army Golf Classic

Friday, June 23, tee off 8:30 a.m., Black Rock Golf Course. Best ball format, no handicaps. Special prizes include closest to pin, longest drive, putting contest and goodie bags. Chili cook-off

Cut-a-Thon

Sunday, June 25, noon to 2 p.m., Holiday Hair salon, Wesel Boulevard, near the new Martin's Food Market, Hagerstown. Holiday Hair will donate all proceeds from haircuts during this time to benefit the Volunteer Fire Co. of Halfway Ambulance Division. The Halfway ambulance will be on display and blood pressure checks and safety information will be offered.

Chesapeake Bay supper

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Sponsored by Renfrew Institute, Friday, June 30, 6 p.m., Waynesboro Country Club. The event features supper with a Chesapeake Bay theme, silent and live auctions, and cash bar. The menu includes Maryland blue crabs, steamed clams, Assateague clam chowder, barbecued chicken, mixed greens salad, Skipjack pasta salad, dinner rolls and "sundaes by the shore" ice cream dessert. Cost is $45 per single; $60 per single patron; $90 per couple; or $110 per couple patron. Proceeds benefit the institute. 16th Annual Commerce Cup Golf Tournament

Hosted by Hagerstown-Washington County Chamber of Commerce, Friday, July 21, shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Beaver Creek Country Club. Format is 2 best balls of 4, low gross/low net of foursome; three flights. Registration fee before July 1 is $95, individual; $380, 4-person team; $200, tee sponsor; and $575, 4-person team and tee sponsorship. After July 1, cost is $100, individual; $400, 4-person team; $225, tee sponsor; and $600, 4-person team and tee sponsorship. Fee includes coffee and Krumpe's doughnuts at registration, hot dogs and chips, barbecue ribs and chicken following play and beer, soda and water on the course.
