Barbara Fulton, 63

Wife, mother, floral designer and active local philanthropist, Barbara Jean Fulton passed away Friday, June 16, 2006, at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown. She was 63 years old, and lived at 9004 Old National Pike in Boonsboro, Md.

A lifelong native of Washington County, she was born Nov. 30, 1942, in Hagerstown, the daughter of the late Malcolm E. Shaw and Mamie Shirk Shaw.

An officer of the AC&T Co. for many years, Mrs. Fulton also served on the boards of several local charities, including the San Mar Children's Home and Girls Inc. in the past, and Saint James School and the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts at the time of her death. She also was a member of the Hagers-town Garden Club and the Women's Club. Known for her beautiful and dramatic floral arrangements and for her ability to stage social gatherings, she often was called upon to prepare special events for her charities, family and friends, and these were always memorable occasions.


She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Adna B. Fulton, and her three sons, Bradley A. Fulton of Greencastle, Pa., Steven D. Fulton of Hagerstown, and Mark A. Fulton of Hagerstown. She also is survived by her sister, Phyllis E. Rohrer of Clear Spring, Md.; four granddaughters, Jessica Sarah Fulton, Grace Ann Fulton, Claire Randell Fulton and Alison Ellen Fulton; and two grandsons, Westwood Adna Fulton and Mitchell Steven Fulton.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Ronnie E. Shaw; and her grandson, John Ross Fulton.

Services will be Tuesday, June 20, at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of Saint James School, College Road, St. James, Md. The Rev. Dr. D. Stuart Dunnan and the Rev. Todd R. FitzGerald will officiate.

Family and friends may pay their respects at the Saint James Chapel on Monday, June 19, from 1 to 3 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m.

Interment will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagers-town, and those attending are requested to carpool from the school.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Saint James School Scholarship Fund for Washington County Students, 17641 College Road, St. James, MD 21781 and Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, P.O. Box 423, Hagerstown, MD 21741.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown.

Gordon L. Cox Jr., 54

Gordon Lee Cox Jr., 54, of Hagerstown, died Friday, June 16, 2006, at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore.

Born March 6, 1952, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Gordon Lee Cox Sr. and Geraldine Palmer Zimmerman Cox.

He was a member of Paramount Brethren Church in Hagerstown.

He worked as a laborer on a farm.

He was a member of the Pro Bowlers Association of Hagerstown.

He is survived by three children, Geraldine I. Haines, Gennifer E. Johnson and Gordon L. Cox III, all of Hagers-town; two sisters, Anna Hiser of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Joanne Baker of Hagerstown; three brothers, Raymond Cox of Martinsburg, Rick Cox of Pennsylvania, and Jackie Cox of Hagerstown; four grandchildren; and eight stepgrandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, Hagerstown. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
