The Cianellis

Jerry and Susie Cianelli celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary Saturday, April 29, 2006. Their daughters and spouse, Tracy and Gary McKinsey and Shannon Cianelli, surprised them with a trip to Las Vegas. Sister-in-law Patsy Troxell, nieces Paula Mathis and Lu-Anne Ewing, and nephew, Richard Troxell, and their families treated the Cianellis to the show Mystre, a Cirque du Soleil production.

The Cianellis were married April 29, 1966, at the Church of the Holy Trinity in Hagerstown by the Rev. Richard Masters.

Mrs. Cianelli retired from Washington County Public Schools in 2004.

Mr. Cianelli is employed with MCE in Hagerstown.

They have two grandchildren.

The Harpers

Donald and Mary (Blackburn) Harper of Hancock celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006, at Hancock Church of God. The event was hosted by their four children and spouses, Donna and Steve Orndoff of Williamsport, Edward and Joyce Harper of Needmore, Pa., Richard and Stephanie Harper of Warfordsburg, Pa., and Mary and Nick Howard of Hancock. Many relatives and friends attended the celebration, where Donald and Mary renewed their vows. There was also special singing by their daughter, Mary Howard, and two granddaughters.


The Harpers were married Feb. 11, 1956, by the Rev. Lester Teter at St. Matthew's United Brethren Church in Hagerstown.

Mrs. Harper is a homemaker.

Mr. Harper is a retired long-distance truck driver.

They have six grandchildren.

The Metzes

Jeffery and Betty Metz of Downsville celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary Sunday, Feb. 12, 2006, at the UAW Local 171 Union Hall.

The Metzes were married Feb. 5, 1966, at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Clear Spring by the late Rev. Warren Zeigler.

Mrs. Metz is employed with Citicorp Credit Services.

Mr. Metz is employed with Mack Trucks.

They own and operate Williamsport Laundry Center in Williamsport.

They have three children, Angie and Jim Cooper, Robin and Eric Banfe, and Jeffery Jr. and Laurie Metz. They also have five granddaughters and one grandson.
