Plans are under way for the second Miss Maryland Outstanding Teen Pageant to be held Friday, June 30, at The Maryland Theatre in Hagers- town. Eighteen local young women, ages 13-17, representing areas across Maryland, will compete for the state title.
The master of ceremonies for the teen pageant will be Jennifer Berry, the reigning Miss America.
The teens will compete in a private interview and on stage in talent, on-stage question, sportswear, evening wear and casual wear.
The winner will represent the state at the Miss America's Outstanding Teen Pageant in Orlando, Fla., on Aug. 15-19. Last year, the national winner received a $30,000 scholarship and each state representative received at least $1,000 in scholarships.
The 18 local teen titleholders met recently at the Grand Venice Hotel in Hagerstown to discuss plans and preparation for the state contest.
