It was a beautiful, windy day in Byron Memorial Park on Saturday, June 10, when Janet Stevens and Chuck Kelley Jr. celebrated their marriage ceremony in the band shell. Their reception was also held in the park pavilion. Congratulations and a wish for a lifetime of happiness together.

Williamsport Youth Soccer picnic set


The Williamsport Youth Soccer League's Family Picnic will be held Tuesday, June 20, in Byron Memorial Park at Pavilion 3. The picnic will start at 4:30 p.m. and the pool will open at 6:30 p.m. Families of U6 and U8 are asked to bring a dessert to share and U10, U12 and U14 are asked to bring a side dish to share. Hot dogs, hamburgers and drinks will be provided. Fall registration forms will be available at the picnic. Players are asked to wear their team shirt.

Skateboarding meeting planned

Do you like to skateboard? So does the New Hope Alliance Church at 302 S. Artizan St. (across from Murray's gas station). All skaters and bikers ages 11-18 and interested in a regular skate time are asked to meet in the parking lot of the church for an organizational meeting on Sunday, June 25, at 6 p.m. Bring your skateboards and helmets. Williamsport grads to be inducted into Hall

Two Williamsport High School grads will be inducted into the Washington County Sports Hall of Fame at the Elks Club on Saturday, July 15.

Kelli Myers, a 1986 graduate, was a four-year letter winner and standout in WHS basketball and track and field. Also, Selena Wilkes, a 1992 graduate, was a member of the WHS volleyball, basketball, softball and golf teams. Social hour begins at 6 p.m. and the induction ceremony and dinner starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person and are available from any board member. The Washington County Sports Hall of Fame is celebrating its 20th year. Among its many civic awards it also gives five $1,000 scholarship to local high school athletes each year. Mark July 15 on your calendar and show the Wildcat spirit and join the celebration for our local grads, Kelli and Selena, as they are inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame, along with five other athletes, Dirk Schultz and Steve Shifflet of Smithsburg High School, Earl Stoner of North Hagerstown High and Earl Springer and Jack Melzer of Hagerstown High School.

Concession stand in park opening soon

Watch for the opening date and information about the Fire Company's Concession Stand in Byron Memorial Park.

Pool hours and rates

The pool is open every day from noon to 6 p.m. and is open on Wednesday from noon to 8 p.m. Admission is $2.50 for children and $3 for adults. The pool concession if open for your convenience.

Vacation Bible School to get under way

St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church of Williamsport will be having its Vacation Bible School from June 19-23 from 6:15 to 8 p.m. nightly. Bring your entire family to find out how: "Jesus Can Make a World of Difference." There are classes for all ages including adults.

Besides Biblical lessons taught nightly, there will also be crafts, music and snacks. Friday night will be a special evening with a closing program and an ice cream social and special activities to follow. To register or for more information, please call the church office at 301-223-8887.

VBS in Williamsport

Vacation Bible School starts on June 2630 from 6:30 to 8:30p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 35 W. Potomac St. VBS is coordinated by Zion Lutheran, Williamsport and Rehoboth United Methodist Churches. Everyone is welcome.

WHS Class of 1991 reunion
