Frostburg artist's work is on display at gallery

June 15, 2006

Oil artist Kate Keely of Frostburg, Md., originally from Hagerstown, is presenting her "Rainbow Bird," "Tornado" and "Fox" series of paintings at the Contemporary School for the Arts and Gallery at 4 W. Franklin St. in Hagerstown.

Keely, an art instructor at Frostburg State University, appeared at receptions at the gallery on June 2 and 3. At the June 3 event, she gave students insight about how, and why, she created her work, which reflects real-life issues.

Satomi Pirrone demonstrated her Opera-Graphy, in which she sings operatic arias while creating art - her "brush" of choice is her own hair.

Art Page shared his poetry with those in attendance. Cyn Berget played keyboard and sang, and later was joined in performance by Roger Powers and Dakota Johnson.
