Missions team helping people locally and around the world

June 13, 2006

The Grace Academy Missions Team is a local service organization that has been established to reach out to the community and help those in need, all in the name of Christ Jesus.

The Grace Academy Missions Team volunteered at Food Resources on May 6. Rob and Steve Wolfe worked alongside a Boy Scout troop to bag food for seniors.

The missions team accepted donations during the first two weeks of May for a Costa Rican church. The donations will be used to set up a kitchen to feed poor children and to purchase building supplies and health supplies. The students signed a banner that said, "God loves you and so do we!!!" The seniors took the banner on their senior trip to Costa Rica, where it will be hung.

The team's end-of-year party was May 22. This year, 51 members put in more than 600 community service hours.

If you know of a nonprofit organization that could use the missions team's help, call Grace Academy at 301-733-2033. Events planned for September through December will be scheduled during the summer.
