K. Helene Warfield, 74, of Hagerstown, died Friday, June 9, 2006, at Broadmore Assisted Living in Hagerstown.

Born Dec. 29, 1931, in Howard County, Md., she was the daughter of the late Helen and Clifford Gray.

She worked for many years in the hotel industry, and for more than 20 years as an administrative professional at places including Dynamark Security Centers Inc. and Protection One, retiring in 2001.

She was a member of Paramount Baptist Church in Hagerstown and also attended Bethany Lane Baptist Church in Ellicott City, Md.

She is survived by four children, Debra A. Warfield of Pennsylvania, Warren D. Warfield of West Virginia, Ellen C. Bachtell of Hagerstown and Scott M. Warfield of Laurel, Md.; five sisters, Thelma Mack of Reisterstown, Md., Edith Myers of Pennsylvania, Ruth Ridgely of Ellicott City, Joan Cunningham of Virginia and Jean Sirk of Woodbine, Md.; four grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Clifford Gray Jr.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Muriel H. Barber Funeral Home, 21525 Laytonsville Road, Laytonsville, Md. The funeral service will be at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m., with graveside services to follow.




Mary A. Flook, 52

ABINGDON, Md. - Mary Anna Miller Flook, 52, of 4411 Philadelphia Road, died Saturday, June 10, 2006, at her home.

Born Dec. 29, 1953, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late John R. and Elsie J. Miller.

She was self-employed as an accountant/bookkeeper.

She is survived by two sons, Gary Flook and Terry Flook, both of Hagerstown; one sister, Sharon M. Miller of Hagerstown; three brothers, J.R. Miller and T. Lee Miller, both of Hagerstown, and Lawrence Miller of Williamsport; one aunt; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, John R. Miller Jr. and Phillip C. Miller.

Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, Boonsboro.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family requests the omission of flowers and that memorial donations be made in care of Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD 21740, to help with funeral expenses.




Ruth M. Recher, 90

HENDERSON, N.C. - Ruth M. Recher, 90, of Senior Citizens, Ruin Creek Road, in Henderson, and formerly of Hagerstown, died Sunday, June 11, 2006, at Maria Parham Memorial Hospital, Henderson.

Born Aug. 13, 1915, in Beaver Creek, she was the daughter of the late Leslie H. and Mary A. Reese Valentine.

Her husband, Joseph E. Recher, died Oct. 22, 1970.

She was employed by Porter Chemical Co. in Hagerstown for 15 years.

She was a member of Hagerstown Bible Church.

She is survived by one son, William L. Recher of Henderson; one grandson, W. Andrew Recher of Chicago; and one granddaughter, Leslie A. Conner of Maryland.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mabel Kline and Mary V. Younkins; and two brothers, Russell T. Valentine and Herman E. Valentine.

Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Bast Funeral Home, Boonsboro. The Rev. Joy E. Zepp will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
