Grace Academy marks three decades at graduation

Grace Academy celebrated its 30th anniversary on June 4 by graduating the class of 2006.

During the ceremony, several students were honored for their achievements.

Matthew Stine, son of Leonard and Marsha Stine of Waynesboro, Pa., was awarded the school's highest honor, the Joseph E. Michael Christian Character Award.

George Michael, son of the award's namesake, made the presentation to Stine. Stine also was recognized as the Mason Dixon Christian Conference Baseball Player of the Year at the ceremony.

Cathren Carver, daughter of Dale and Dolores Carver of Hagerstown, received the Citizenship Award for the senior class. The award is given to the student who sets a good example of obedience, respect and responsibility.

The Presidential Educational Award was given to Laura Browning and Adam Shurnitski.

The Maryland State Education Award was presented to Browning, Shurnitski and Eric Hess.
